REDDING, Calif. -- The Bureau of Land Management is asking people to stay out of the Clear Creek Greenway and Cloverdale Recreation Area south of Redding, while firefighting continues on the 1,300-acre Creek Fire.

“Firefighters will be mopping up hot spots and felling dead and smoldering trees for the next week. For their own safety, people should avoid the trails and swimming areas," said Jennifer Mata, manager of the BLM Redding Field Office. She said the BLM and CAL FIRE will be moving heavy equipment through the area, and some roads, including Clear Creek Road, could remain closed for much of this week.

“We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate public cooperation," Mata said.
