Type 3 Team Turning Over Martin to Local Agencies

PARADISE VALLEY, Nev. -As of 8 a.m. on Tuesday July 17, the Type 3 Team on the west part of the Martin Fire will be turning over control to the local agencies. Crews will be demobilizing and heading back to their home units or assigned to other fires as needed. No growth to the fire perimeter and acreage has stayed at 435,569 acres and 95 percent containment.

Local firefighters will continue to patrol and monitor the fire for any sign of heat especially in the unburned islands, as well as conduct repairs on dozer lines and roads impacted by fire suppression activities. Winnemucca BLM will begin Emergency Stabilization Rehabilitation or ESR efforts once 100 percent contained.

Although this will be the final update for the time being, a news release will be sent out when there is any new information. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Martin fire was reported around 12:25 a.m. on July, 5 about 4 miles northeast of Paradise Valley, NV.
