PRICE, Utah - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Green River District Office invites the public to visit an archaeological dig and other historical sites throughout Nine Mile Canyon on Sept. 15 for Stewardship Day.
Stewardship Day is the capstone event for an ongoing partnership between the BLM, Arizona State University, and Project Discovery Utah. This free event is designed as a driving tour, where the public can discover the canyon and explore archaeological sites. Each of the sites will have a host and student stewards where participants can learn about the canyon’s history and why archaeological site preservation is important.
Canyon tours will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Project Discovery Utah will be hosting a gathering and activities at the Nine Mile Ranch from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Visitors can pick up a map and plan their tour at the welcome table located at the Nine Mile Ranch. The BLM suggests that you wear closed-toe shoes. We also recommend that visitors bring snacks, a hat, water, sunscreen, bug spray, and a camera.
