SPOKANE, Wash. - Due to cooler temperatures and increased moisture in the area, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Spokane District will lift fire restrictions on lands administered by the district, including the temporary ban on target shooting, in eastern Washington. The termination of the regulated fire closure will be effective Saturday, Sept. 15 at 12:01 a.m. in the following counties: Adams, Asotin, Benton, Chelan, Columbia, Douglas, Ferry, Franklin, Garfield, Grant, Kittitas, Klickitat, Lincoln, Okanogan, Pend Oreille, Spokane, Stevens, Walla Walla, Whitman, and Yakima.
The BLM would like to remind the public the potential for wildfire still exists and the accidental start of a wildfire can still be devastating. Be alert and be aware. Caution is advised at all times when operating motor vehicles on roads or trails with vegetation or high grasses, and due to fire hazard risk the public is reminded that fireworks and exploding targets are never allowed on public lands at any time. The public is also asked to ensure any campfires are completely extinguished and cold before departure from a camping area.
