(DILLON, Mont.) - The Bureau of Land Management’s Dillon Field Office is reviewing a plan of operations to remove a mine waste dump for further processing in Madison County.
The plan of operations was filed by Birdia LLC and includes BLM lands that are part of the Dillon Field Office approximately two miles east of Norris, Mont.
The mining activities include removing about 2,500 tons of previously discarded waste rock from the Birdia Mine, crushing it, and hauling the material off-site for further processing. The proposed activities would take place during winter of 2018.
The plan of operations is available for review at the Dillon Field Office. The Environmental Assessment is expected to be completed in October and will be posted online at the agency’s ePlanning website (bit.ly/2uJQUvJ). The public is invited to review the plan of operations and provide comments specific to this project. Comments would be most helpful if they are received by Oct. 25.
