BOISE, Idaho - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is hosting a poetry reading and a free, all-ages poetry writing workshop led by 2019 BLM Artist in Residence (AIR) Hannah Rodabaugh on Sept. 1, 2-3:30 p.m. at the MK Nature Center, 600 S. Walnut St., Boise.
Ms. Rodabaugh is a writing teacher whose work has been published in numerous magazines. She is also a co-curator for Ghosts & Projectors, a Boise-based poetry reading series. This is her second BLM AIR project in Idaho.
She will read selected poems inspired by her time in the BLM’s Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area (NCA). Following the reading, she will lead a poetry writing workshop with family-friendly writing prompts on birds of prey and the NCA.
“Public lands provide many benefits, including inspiration," said NCA Manager Amanda Hoffman. “We're very excited to showcase the National Conservation Area's 2019 Artist in Residence and to share her talents with the community."
The BLM’s AIR program invites artists to spend a week absorbing their surroundings on public lands, create art in response to their experience, and then share their vision and techniques with visitors. The program also promotes awareness of exceptional places found on our nation’s public lands.
