BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - After more than a quarter century in an office building on Pegasus Drive in Bakersfield, the Bureau of Land Management Bakersfield Field Office will be moving to a new building at 35126 McMurtrey Ave., effective Sept. 14.
There will be no changes in virtual services with the move. Maps and public land information are available along with campfire permits by email or phone at: BLM_CA_Web_BK@blm.gov or 661-391-6000 during normal business hours, 7:30 am - 4:15 pm. The public lobbies remain temporarily closed to in-person access to safeguard our visitors and staff during the pandemic.
The Bakersfield Field Office manages approximately 1.2 million acres of federal minerals, which includes roughly 400,000 surface acres of BLM-managed public land that stretches from the California Coast to the crest of the Sierra Nevada range in eastern Fresno, western Kern, Kings, Madera, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Tulare and Ventura counties. The Bakersfield Field Office jurisdiction also includes the Carrizo Plain National Monument, Piedras Blancas Light Station, San Joaquin River Gorge, Keysville and Temblor Special Recreation Management Areas, and the Atwell Island Land Retirement Demonstration Project.
