MEEKER, Colo. - Fire managers from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Northwest District Fire and Aviation and the White River Field Office are on scene of a 4-5 acre fire approximately 20 miles SSW of the town of Meeker near County Road 5 on Barnes Ridge.

Two BLM engines are on scene of the Middle Fire; no structures are threatened. Fire officials have determined the best course of action is to let the fire burn for resource benefit. The cause of the fire has been determined to be by lighting from storms that passed through the area May 30. Smoke may be visible from nearby communities and roads.
