LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. - The Bureau of Land Management Lake Havasu Field Office announces the temporary closure and restriction of selected public lands for the 2022 Best in the Desert’s Parker 250 and 425 races in La Paz County. The temporary closure will be in effect Jan. 5-9 and Jan. 19-23, 2022. The temporary restrictions will be in effect Jan. 4-9, and Jan. 18-23, 2022.

“These temporary closure and restrictions are designed to keep participants, spectators and the visiting public safe during this year’s Parker races," said BLM Lake Havasu Field Manager Jason West. “These precautions help ensure safe and successful events."

BLM special recreation permits require event organizers to comply with all federal, state and local laws and regulations, including local requirements regarding COVID-19. The BLM is helping connect event organizers with appropriate state, county and local officials to get required COVID-19 compliance permits for the event.

Access to public lands in and around the race course will be temporarily closed, restricted or designated as spectator areas. Restricted and closed areas will be marked at key access points with signs, fencing or barriers. Maps and information regarding both designated race course closures and restricted areas are attached. Copies of the maps are also available at the Lake Havasu Field Office, 1785 Kiowa Ave., Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
