BLM Farmington District lifts fire restrictions

The following press releases was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management on June 30. It is reproduced in full below.

FARMINGTON, N.M. - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will terminate all fire restrictions on BLM-administered public lands within Colfax, Harding, McKinley, Mora, Quay, Rio Arriba, San Juan, San Miguel, Sandoval, Santa Fe, Taos and Union counties at 8 a.m. on July 1.

The BLM joins other federal agencies in lifting fire restrictions following recent precipitation, reducing reduced fire danger in New Mexico. The public should remain aware of the areas they are visiting, be prepared to put campfires out, and have a fire extinguisher. Please continue to park only in areas free of flammable vegetation.

The use of exploding targets and fireworks is prohibited year-round on all BLM lands in New Mexico by statewide order.

The BLM appreciates the public’s cooperation in helping to minimize the number of human-caused wildfires. For more information, please contact the BLM Farmington District Office at 505-564-7600 or the BLM NM Fire Restrictions site.
