Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Representative to the United Nations, met today with Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin of the Holy See. The two discussed Russia’s unjustified invasion of Ukraine, the critical importance of ensuring food security globally, and the imperative of protecting vulnerable and marginalized people, especially in Ethiopia, Haiti, Lebanon, and South Sudan.
Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield thanked Cardinal Parolin for the Holy See’s leadership in recognizing Ukraine’s right to self-defense and highlighting atrocities resulting from Russia’s war of choice, and for the Holy See’s support for Ukrainian refugees across Europe.
