Field Trip Reservations Rapidly Filling Up at Fort Stanwix National Monument

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on March 25, 2004. It is reproduced in full below.

Teachers! Are you considering a field trip to Fort Stanwix for your students? Now is the time to call before our spring dates are completely filled. We have a limited number of openings for ranger-guided programs April-June.

If you are teaching summer school, we also provide guided programs throughout July and August. We also have an array of daily activities during those months, and welcome self-guided groups, too. Please call ahead so we know to expect you.

Fall at Fort Stanwix is also a wonderful time to bring your students. We are open until Dec. 31, and provide most of our regular school programs until that date. This is also a great time to assure that you are able to make reservation date and time you want, as visitation slows down at this time of year.

We offer 1-hour ranger-guided programs from Pre-K through college, based on your emphasis, at 9:15, 10:30, 1:15, and any time from 2:30-4:00 p.m. Also, for grades 4-6 we offer 3-hour Soldier's Day Program from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

If you would like to reserve a program, or you would like more information, please call the fort at 336-2090 and ask for Valerie Morgan or Bill Sawyer. Detailed lesson plans and additional program information is included on our website, www.nps.gov/fost.
