Kids Fishing Event at the Chattahoochee River NRA 6/1/04

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on June 1, 2004. It is reproduced in full below.

National Park Service staff invite kids under 16 to join us on June 19th for a half-day of fishing and fisheries-related educational programs on our 1 acre pond near the Island Ford Visitor Contact Station. Come hook a catfish or bluegill while learning about aquatic habitats, fish identification, knot tying, fishing tackle selection and use, water safety, outdoor ethics, pollution, and water quality.

In addition to education programs the event will be holding a Zebco Kids Casting Contest and awarding a Fujifilm 2004 Big Fish Award, with the winners entered into a national drawing for a $1,000 U.S. Savings Bond.

Fishing is for kids only (children must be supervised by an adult). The event begins at 9AM and ends at 12 noon. Limited fishing tackle and bait will be provided. Bringing your own fishing pole is suggested, but not necessary. Pre-registration is required.

For more information or to register for the event please call 678-538-1220. Space is limited to 20 kids.
