Harkers Island, NC. Cape Lookout National Seashore Acting Superintendent Cherry Payne invites the public to a meeting to learn about the Draft Revision of the National Park Service (NPS) Management Policies, and how to provide their comments to the NPS. The Management Policies is the main policy document of the National Park Service; the last revision of the Management Policies was issued in 2001.
The National Park Service (NPS) is proposing to update the policies that guide the management of the national park system. The policies are being updated to improve their clarity and to keep pace with changes in laws, regulations, socio-economic factors and technology. The revised policies will also improve understandings among NPS managers, and between NPS managers and the public, regarding how decisions are made in protecting park resources and providing opportunities for public enjoyment of the parks.
The time and location of the meeting: Jan. 18, 2006 - 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Core Sound Waterfowl Museum, 1205 Island Road, Harkers Island, NC.

Individuals are encouraged to submit comments on the Planning, Environment and Public Comment (PEPC) website by Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006. If you do not have access to the site, we will provide a copy of the document at the public meeting and you can submit your comments in writing to the Superintendent by close of business Friday, Jan. 27, 2006.
