Outer Banks Group Superintendent Mike Murray announced that all National Park Service campgrounds in Cape Hatteras National Seashore will be temporarily closed beginning at noon today, Aug. 31, 2006, due to impending weather impacts from Tropical Storm Ernesto. Ocracoke, Cape Point, Frisco, and Oregon Inlet campgrounds will be temporarily closed. The predicted high winds and heavy rains will make camping activities inadvisable.
These campgrounds will reopen after the storm passes and any damage is repaired.
No other Outer Banks Group National Park Service facilities are closed at this time.
