Seashore Sites Reopen with Ernesto's Passing

Robert A. Vogel, Superintendent, Cape Lookout National Seashore, announces that all areas of the National Seashore have reopened effective 3:00 PM on Friday, Sept. 01, 2006.

In the morning and afternoon, residual high wind conditions from Tropical Storm Ernesto hampered an early the start of assessments. Preliminary assessments of seashore facilities and resources were performed by park staff and Superintendent Vogel is pleased to report that no major damage to park facilities has been observed so far.

The U.S. Coast Guard - Sector North Carolina cleared park ferries to resume operations at about 3:00 PM. Please call individual ferry operators to determine which ferries are operational.
