Fire Ban in Effect at Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Sept. 11, 2006. It is reproduced in full below.

Due to extreme conditions, all fires at Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area are banned effective Sept. 12, 2006. This means no open flames, including charcoal fires, will be allowed until further notice. Exceptions include: 1) self-contained propane stoves; and 2) portable propane campfire units that are UL (Underwriters Lab) approved and located 10 feet from vegetation and logs.

A fire ban for all areas located in Lincoln County has been in effect since July 27. Stevens and Ferry counties will be under a ban beginning September 12.
