On Saturday, October 7, Acadia National Park Artists-in-Residence on the Schoodic Education and Research Center campus will present demonstrations of their work. Reservations are required for both programs, and the cost is $8 for the day or $5 for a single program. Workshop fees are used to defray the cost of supplies. From 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., textile artist Sarah Haskell will share her work including her community art piece, The Button Project, a 9/11 memorial, and lead a workshop in weaving paper mosaics. Then, at 10:30 a.m., returning poet Mimi White will present her 2005 contribution to the park, which is a work of poetry. After reading some of her works, she will lead a short workshop in writing your own poetry.
Bring a bag lunch and relax between 12 and 12:30 p.m., then join photographer Karen Klinedinst, who will lead a photo transfer workshop until 2:30 p.m. Participants can bring their own slides and transfer them to prints that can be hand colored. There will also be slides available.
