The Willow Beach Access Road and Lower Portal Road will reopen on Saturday, November 4. The access roads have both been closed since October 14 from a severe storm and subsequent flash flooding.
The Willow Beach Access Road will reopen at 2:00 a.m., Saturday, November 4 (as a courtesy to fisherman who like to access the area in the early morning hours). The Lower Portal Road will once again be open to the river rafting concessioners and canoe and kayaking permit holders from November 4-26. The Lower Portal Road will close November 27 through January 30 for previously scheduled site improvements.
The Lower Portal Road is on the Nevada side of Hoover Dam and it is a controlled-access road. The Willow Beach Access Road is on the Arizona side of Lake Mohave at about mile marker 13.
