The Willow Beach Access Road (at about mile marker 13 on Highway 93 in Arizona) and launch ramp were re-opened to the public ahead of schedule Friday, November 3. The access road and launch ramp have previously been closed since October 14 from a severe storm and subsequent flash flooding.
The main access road will still be gravel in the most heavily damaged areas. Work, and eventual repaving, will continue on the main access road. The north side of the launch ramp will be open while work continues on the south side of the ramp. Work will also be continuing in the wash areas as dikes and culverts are repaired.
The controlled-access Lower Portal Road on the Nevada side of Hoover Dam, will once again be open to the river rafting concessioner and canoe and kayaking permit holders from November 4-26. The Lower Portal Road will close November 27 through January 30 for previously scheduled site improvements.
