Trail Ridge Road Construction Update

Trail Ridge Road Construction Update

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Sept. 17, 2007. It is reproduced in full below.

Construction work on Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park is on schedule to be completed this season. Night closures, that have been in place since early July, are no longer in effect. Construction is still taking place on Trail Ridge Road, so visitors should expect minor delays throughout the rest of the season.

This morning at approximately 8:00 a.m., Trail Ridge Road was closed at Rainbow Curve on the east side of the park and Milner Pass on the west side of the park, due to snow accumulation and poor visibility. The road reopened at approximately 1:45 p.m. This evening’s weather forecast calls for more snow accumulation and high winds at upper elevations. During September and October, visitors are reminded to plan ahead and watch the forecast when making plans to travel on Trail Ridge Road. On average Trail Ridge Road normally closes for the season in mid October. For information about Rocky Mountain National Park including road status, please call the park’s information office at (970) 586-1206.
