New Web Page to List Cross-Country Ski Conditions on Park Carriage Roads

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Jan. 7, 2008. It is reproduced in full below.

(Bar Harbor, Maine) - Acadia National Park staff have developed a new web page that lists the condition of the carriage road segments that are groomed for cross-country skiing. The web page is accessible on the park website. The Acadia Winter Trails Association, a volunteer committee of Friends of Acadia, grooms designated segments of the carriage roads when time and conditions permit. Park staff will update the conditions of these areas on the website as soon as new information is known. Winter sports enthusiasts are reminded that dogs should be kept on a leash in the park, and that skijoring is permitted only on closed motor vehicle roads (e.g., Park Loop Road, Seal Cove Road, fire roads).
