There will be a temporary one-day closure of the Callville Bay boat launch ramp on Monday, March 31, 2008. The temporary closure is necessary because a new courtesy dock for the boat launch ramp is being delivered and installed. Work will begin at 7 a.m. and continue until the new courtesy dock is operational. All other facilities and services at Callville Bay Marina will remain open and available to visitors.
“We regret the inconvenience of this temporary one-day closure. We have scheduled the work on Monday to minimize the impact to visitors. Boaters can use the Echo Bay launch ramp (about 15 miles north of Callville Bay) or the Boulder Harbor launch ramp ( about 20 miles south of Callville Bay) to access Lake Mead.
The National Park Service has contracted with Holm Welding of Veyo, Utah to construct and install a total of four new courtesy docks on Lake Mead. In addition to Callville Bay, new courtesy docks will also be installed at Echo Bay, Boulder Harbor and Overton Beach. The project cost $250,000 and is being paid for with Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act funding.
