Come celebrate the return of summer to with two time honored traditions, canoeing and camping. This trip will follow the Kettle River from the Barstow Bridge to the mouth of the Kettle River, at Kamloops Island, a two day affair. Depart on the afternoon of Saturday the 21st of June and paddle 7 miles south to Kettle River Campground. The expedition will spend one night and resume the trip in the morning, arriving at Kamloops Island at noon on the 22nd of June.
Canoeing is the perfect way to experience nature, drifting silently down the Kettle River. Along the 13 mile trek from Barstow to Kamloops, visitors will enjoy wildlife, botany, history and geology all under the expert guidance of a National Park Ranger. This is an excellent way to hone your canoeing skills as well. All paddles, canoes and life jackets are provided and Park Rangers, on hand, will instruct all experience levels of paddlers from beginners to experienced hands. Visitors must bring camping gear (for one night’s stay), two meals (dinner and breakfast) and two snacks, as well as adequate drinking water and weather gear for all conditions, this trip will occur rain or shine, there is no rain date.
