Free Fishing Day Activities - Saturday, June 14 At Lake Mead National Recreation Area 28-08

Hemenway Fishing Pier and Callville Bay Resort

The National Park Service, the Nevada Department of Wildlife, the Bureau of Reclamation, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas - Public Lands Institute, and Forever Resorts have several events planned for Free Fishing Day on Saturday, June 14 at Lake Mead:

* Hemenway Fishing Dock on the far south end of Boulder Beach will be the area for a fishing clinic, casting lessons, water safety information, and a fish art booth. Free loaner reels and bait will be provided. Kids will get their own tackle boxes while supplies last. The registration for this event will be from 8-9 a.m. and the instruction will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. * National Get Outdoors Day events will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Callville Bay Resort. Nevada Department of Wildlife and National Park Service employees will be on hand with fun information for kids. Forever Resorts, the authorized concessioner at Callville Bay will be holding a casting contest, offering free lunch from 12 noon - 2 p.m., and distributing important boating and water safety information. Other partners at this event include Bass Pro Shops. All participants in the events at Callville Bay Resort will be eligible to win a free houseboat vacation from Forever Resorts. Anyone who enters the park on the Nevada side of Lake Mead the morning of Saturday, June 14, and mentions free fishing day activities will be given free entrance into Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Please note the lake use fee for vessels will still be in effect.
