The National Park Service has published the Fort Stanwix National Monument Draft General Management Plan/Draft Environmental Impact Statement and is making the document available for public comment. The plan provides alternatives for the park’s management for the next 15 to 20 years. A public meeting to obtain comments on the study was held on Oct. 23, at 7:00 p.m. in the Common Council Chambers at City Hall, 198 N Washington Street, Rome, NY. All are welcome.
A copy of the full study is available online at https://parkplanning.nps.gov. Simply search for Fort Stanwix National Monument on the website. For those unable to attend the meeting, public comments can be submitted by mail to Superintendent Debbie Conway, Fort Stanwix National Monument, 112 E. Park Street, Rome, NY 13440. Comments can be submitted electronically through the National Park Service Planning, Environment and Public Comment (PEPC) website at https://parkplanning.nps.gov. The deadline for comments is Dec. 1, 2008.
