MEDIA ADVISORY: BOATING ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES TO PROVIDE MEDIA RIDE-ALONGS, LIFE JACKET FASHION SHOW
WHO: National Park Rangers, Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) Wardens, and other experts for boating and shoreline recreation.

WHAT: National Safe Boating Week & Memorial Day Weekend Media Availability.

Hemenway Harbor Launch Ramp, Lake Mead National Recreation Area
The first ride-alongs and first life jacket fashion show will start at 11 a.m.
WHY: National Safe Boating Week (May 16-22) is the perfect time for boaters to take a look at the condition of the safety equipment on their boat. Park rangers and wardens will be on hand to talk about equipment requirements and what they will be looking for this summer to ensure boater safety. A fashion show will highlight new lightweight and fashionable life jackets. NDOW and its partners will be announcing an exciting new campaign to encourage safe boating in Southern Nevada. The campaign will include rewards for safe boaters and weekly prize giveaways by Lake Mead attractions.
***NOTE: To ensure that we have enough boats on hand, please respond to this advisory by Tuesday, May 19 if you would like a ride along. Unless there is an incident Memorial Day weekend, agencies will not consider requests for interviews during that time - we are extremely busy. This will be your only opportunity to interview park officials for Memorial Day weekend stories.
