The National Park Service is pleased to announce an upcoming fee free weekend at national parks across the United States including Fort Frederica National Monument on St. Simons Island, GA. Tough economic times call for economical fun, and you can’t beat America’s 391 national parks for family time, fresh air, and opportunities to learn about our great country. On June 20 and 21, park entrance fees will be waived for all who want to experience their national parks.
With many Americans facing tough economic times right now, this is a way that the National Park Service can help out by making it easier to visit a National Park, to bring your family for a day or weekend of fun. We are inviting you to come by for a visit, to relax, to learn about this great nation…and to just have some fun.
According to Fort Frederica Superintendent Mary Beth Wester, “We are thrilled to offer a special weekend - Father’s Day weekend - as a perfect time to come and experience the incredibly vibrant history of Fort Frederica and its role in our national history." Fort Frederica offers special opportunities to learn about Georgia’s colonial past including an award-winning junior ranger program, hands-on programs and guided tours.
The park will be open from 9 am until 5 pm.
