Learn to live a more sustainable life by discovering how to calculate your carbon footprint and grow your own vegetables. Thursday, July 9 from 9am - 5pm at the Woodland Park Harvest Center. Sponsored by the Friends of Florissant. Fee is $50. Teacher credit available. Registration required. Call 719-748-3253.

In this seminar, you will learn and be able to teach others how to calculate their “carbon footprint", interpret population growth information, compare and contrast hydrocarbon, nuclear and sustainable energy, compare and contrast local and. non- local food systems, and demonstrate how to properly amend soil for planting, compost, select varieties of vegetable plants that will grow well in this area, and demonstrate correct maintenance and harvesting tips of five common vegetables.
