A Call to Artists: Whiskeytown National Recreation Area is seeking applications from professional artists for the 2010 National Parks Artist-in-Residence Program

Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, as part of the National Park Service's Artist-in-Residence Program, is seeking professional artists to apply to participate in the 2010 residency program. Artists working in visual mediums including: painting, drawing, printmaking, and mixed media will be considered.

Director of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art Artists Gallery, Maria Medua, will juror the 2010 submissions. Two to four artists will be selected.

Artists will have the opportunity to spend up to four weeks in an artist cabin in Whiskeytown to produce new works. Deadline for entry is Feb. 15, 2010. Artists selected will be asked to conduct at least one program for the public, and to donate a piece of art reflective of their time at Whiskeytown.

Whiskeytown National Recreation Area is located seven miles west of Redding, California, and covers 42,000 acres of land among the hills and valleys of California’s Klamath Mountains.
