Mount Rushmore National Memorial Remembers September 11

(Keystone, SD) In solemn remembrance of Sept. 11, 2001, Mount Rushmore National Memorial will be extending the evening illumination of the sculpture through the night of Friday, September 11. After the regular Evening Program that begins at 8:00 pm on Friday, the carving will remain illuminated until sunrise on Saturday, September 12. A park ranger will be stationed on the Grand View Terrace throughout the night to answer questions from interested visitors.

Visitors who are planning to come to the memorial for this occasion are asked to park on the upper levels of the parking garage. The parking garage entrance gate will be open and garage levels three and six will be available for visitors. All other National Park Service and concession facilities will be closed during this time. For further information, please call (605) 574-2523.
