In Honor of our Nation's Veterans, Wind Cave NP will offer Free Tours on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11th, 2009.

Wind Cave will offer free cave tours at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. on Wednesday November 11th, 2009. Visitors will walk along the Garden of Eden Tour route and view boxwork formations for which the cave is famous. This 1/4-mile tour is moderately strenuous with approximately 150 steps and lasts one hour.

Tickets are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Cave temperature is approximately 53 ºF. A light coat or sweater and sturdy walking shoes are recommended. All tours begin at the visitor center located ½-mile off US Highway 385.

Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar stated “The Department of the Interior is honored to offer this fee free day to thank our nation’s service men and women. The sacrifices and achievements of the brave men and women of our armed forces can never be understated. We invite all of our visitors to enjoy this fee free day and take time out on this national holiday to remember our service men and women who are currently serving overseas in harm’s way."
