Seashore Programs for March 2010 and Visitor Center Opening Dates

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on March 23, 2010. It is reproduced in full below.

Harkers Island, NC -- Superintendent Russel J. Wilson announced the opening of visitor facilities at Cape Lookout National Seashore:

* The Light Station Visitor Center and Keepers’ Quarters Museum at the Cape Lookout Lighthouse will open on Wednesday, March 31.

* Portsmouth Village will open Monday, March 29.

* Great Island and Long Point Camps will open on Friday, March 26.

Volunteers will present lighthouse talks daily at 10:30 AM, 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM on the porch of the Keepers’ Quarters next to the lighthouse.

Walking tours of Historic Portsmouth Village will be led by volunteers at 10:30 AM on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays beginning on Memorial Day and ending on Labor Day. Tours begin at the ferry landing.
