Tsongas Industrial History Center Offers Summer Day Camp!
Looking for fun this summer? Then sign up for summer day camps that explore Lowell’s history, the Merrimack River, local national parks and much more. The Tsongas Industrial History Center offers week-long summer day camp sessions. The Center is a hands-on education partnership between the University of Massachusetts Lowell and Lowell National Historical Park located at the Boott Cotton Mill Museum in Lowell, Massachusetts. Each camp runs Monday through Friday, 8:30 am-3:00 pm. Summer camp programs are designed and staffed by professional educators with a ratio of one staff member for each 8-10 children. Snacks and T-shirts provided; children bring a brown bag lunch.
This year’s camp themes include: Boott Camp, a hands on look at the birth and growth of Lowell, where children build a canal system, weave on looms, and see how people lived over 100 years ago; Boott Camp: Discovery! is geared for the older students; Wonders of Water explores water, power, transportation and recreation as children go discover the Merrimack River on a National Park boat; in National Parks Adventures Camp, children visit four different national park areas, meet a Minute Man, and travel to the Boston Harbor Islands.
Boott Camp is offered July 12-16, July 26-30 and August 9-13.
Boott Camp: Discovery! is offered July 19-23.
Wonders of Water is offered July 19-23, August 2-6.
National Parks Adventures is offered July 26-30.
Camps are Monday-Friday, 8:30-3:00
Price: $175 per week. Sibling discount available.
Sign up begins March 23, 2010. Boott Camp and Wonders of Water are open to boys and girls ages 8 to 11, Boott Camp: Discovery! and National Parks Adventures for those 10 to 14.
