Free Entrance at Redwood National & State Parks, August 14-15, 2010

Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar announced last week that the National Park Service will waive entrance fees on August 14 and 15 to encourage all Americans to visit our national parks.

Day use fees into the three state park units within Redwood National and State Parks will be waived this weekend, August 14th and 15th. As part of a larger National Park Service effort where entrance fees are being waived throughout the National Park System for the coming weekend, Redwood National and State Parks will waive the day use entry fee into Jedediah Smith, Del Norte Coast, and Prairie Creek Redwoods StateParks. This is an opportunity for all to enjoy a free weekend this summe rat Redwood National and State Parks and throughout the National Park System. Other fees, such as campground use fees, will still apply.

There are 391 national parks located across the country in 49 states, many of which will hold free events on August 14 and 15. A complete list by park or state is available on the National Park Service website at www.nps.gov. California State Parks also has a web site to help you in planning to visit the array of opportunities available to you in the state park system. That web address is www.parks.ca.gov.
