National Park Rangers from Oklahoma’s three national park areas [Chickasaw National Recreation Area, Oklahoma City National Memorial, and Washita Battlefield National Historic Site] will staff a National Park Service (NPS) booth during the 2010 Oklahoma State Fair, which runs from September 16 through September 26. The NPS booth is located in the Oklahoma Expo Hall #3 (the old Made in Oklahoma building) and will be staffed from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
“Last year, Ken Burns highlighted national parks across the country with his series, ‘The National Parks: America’s Best Idea.’ During the State Fair, our rangers will provide information about national park sites and programs throughout the state," said NPS Oklahoma State Coordinator and Chickasaw National Recreation Area Superintendent Bruce Noble.
On Senior Day, Wednesday, Sept. 22, the interagency Senior Pass will be for sale to eligible members of the public at the NPS booth from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The $10 Senior Pass is a lifetime pass for U.S. citizens and permanent residents age 62 and over. The pass gives the card holder and three additional adults access to and use of Federal recreation sites that charge an Entrance or Standard Amenity Fee. You must present your Driver’s License to obtain the pass.
On Deaf Awareness Day, Thursday, Sept. 23, NPS sign language interpreters will staff the booth from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
