Zion National Park will offer a Fee Free Day on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, in observance of National Public Lands Day. On that day, the National Park Service will join other public land management agencies to waive entrance fees including commercial tour and transportation entrance fees. The fee waiver does not include camping or backcountry permit fees.
"We invite all of our neighbors to take advantage of this day to reconnect with the solace and magnificence of Zion National Park," said Superintendent Jock Whitworth. As part of America’s public lands, Zion National Park offers opportunities to experience an incredible display of natural and cultural history and provides outstanding opportunities for hiking, sightseeing, and renewal of the human spirit.
The park’s Public Lands Day volunteer project will be fence building and trail rehabilitation in the Kolob Canyons section of the park. Persons willing to volunteer for this project must pre-register by calling the Kolob Canyons Visitor Center at 435-586-9548.
Visitors entering Zion National Park on Saturday, Sept. 25, will receive a non-transferable, park pass for the day of entry only. Visitors will still be able to purchase annual and lifetime passes.
