Children's Fishing Clinic at Chickasaw NRA

Chickasaw National Recreation Area in Sulphur, Oklahoma, would like to invite children ages 12 and under to participate in a fishing clinic on Saturday, October 9, 2010. The clinic is in partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation Aquatic Education Program and will take place from 9:00 am-12:00 pm at the Point Day Use Area at the south end of

Cooper Memorial Road

at the Lake of the Arbuckles.

The family-friendly event will include a series of stations where National Park Service staff and volunteers will instruct children on various aspects of fishing. Fishing equipment, casting, knot tying, sport fish identification, and water safety/fishing ethics will be included. Some equipment will be provided, although attendees are encouraged to bring their own fishing poles. Parents are encouraged to participate with their children and enjoy a morning at the lake.
