Fatality on the Keyhole Route of Longs Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park

At approximately 12:30 p.m. today, Saturday, Sept. 25, three hikers on the Keyhole Route of Longs Peak, witnessed a fall of another hiker from The Ledges. The man fell approximately 300 feet. Park rangers were contacted by cell phone soon after the fall. Park rangers reached the man's body at 3:17 p.m.

Rangers will remain in the area tonight. Weather and resources permitting, the victim's body will be recovered tomorrow. His body will then be transferred to the Boulder County Coroner. The identification of the man is under investigation.
