Superintendent Walter J. Chavez announces that the entrance fee to the fortifications of San Juan National Historic Site will we waived for the Martin Luther King weekend January 15-17. Entrance fees at National Park Sites throughout the country are being waived to encourage people to visit their National Parks. “This weekend, which includes the Martin Luther King holiday as well as the Festival de la Calle
San Sebastián here in Old San Juan, will be an excellent opportunity for visitors to get out and visit the fortifications of San Juan National Historic Site," said Superintendent Chavez.
Castillo San Cristóbal and San Felipe del Morro are open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Orientation talks by uniformed personnel are conducted each hour at both fortifications and visitors should check our web site or call the park for additional information on activities at the fortifications.
In addition, during this weekend visitors should be aware that the grounds of Castillo San Felipe del Morro will be closed to the public from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM during the days of the celebration of the Festival de la Calle
San Sebastián. This temporary closing will help the National Park Service manage and safely protect the historical and cultural resources of the fortifications and visitors of San Juan National Historical Site.
