Berlin, Maryland - Superintendent Trish Kicklighter today announced that the entrance fee to Assateague Island National Seashore will be waived on June 21st to encourage visitation to the park. The fee waiver applies at both the Maryland and Virginia districts.

“This fee-free day provides a great opportunity for individuals and families alike to kick off the summer with a visit to Assateague," Kicklighter said. “I encourage everyone to take advantage of the free admission to visit one of the east coast’s finest Seashores."

First time visitors are encouraged to stop at either of the two Visitor Centers to see exhibits and get information about the many recreational activities and natural features in the Seashore.

The waiver of entrance fees applies not just at Assateague but at all other National Park System areas that normally change an entrance fee. So, take advantage of the freebie and enjoy a park near you! For more information on Assateague Island National Seashore, or to plan your trip, visit www.nps.gov/asis
