Eielson Visitor Center Closure Extended

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on July 13, 2011. It is reproduced in full below.

The Eielson Visitor Center, located on Mile 66 on the Denali Park Road, will be closed for an estimated 3-4 days so that a contractor can fix the sewage system. The anticipated opening date is Monday, July 18.

During this temporary closure buses with Eielson as their destination will turn around in the parking lot, and only disembark passengers who want to hike. Trails in the area will remain open for day and overnight use.

Buses heading to Wonder Lake and Kantishna will not stop at Eielson. A temporary rest area has been established at the Mile 73 pullout for the passengers on these buses.

Additional park information is available on the web at www.nps.gov/dena or by calling (907) 683-9532 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. Stay connected with "DenaliNPS" on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, and iTunes - links to these social media sites are available at www.nps.gov/dena.
