Continuing on Tuesday evenings is the Science Behind The Scenery Series. These programs begin at 7:30 p.m. and are held in the auditorium at Beaver Meadows Visitor Center in Rocky Mountain National Park. They are free and open to the public. Expand your knowledge of the park by learning more about the research behind the scenes. Following is the schedule for the remainder of the summer:
Tuesday, Aug. 2, 7:30 p.m., Nitrogen Deposition
Learn how Nitrogen pollution impacts the waters and life forms of Rocky Mountain National Park. Presenter is Dr. David Clow, who is a Research Hydrologist with the United States Geological Survey.
Tuesday, August 9, 7:30 p.m., Permafrost
Discover how frozen ground affects the landscape and life of the tundra. Presenter is Jason Janke, who is a professor of Environmental Science at the Metropolitan State College of Denver.
Tuesday, Aug. 16, 7:30 p.m., Wetlands Restoration
Learn about the science of restoring the wetlands of the Upper Kawuneeche Valley. Presenter is Covey Potter, who is a Masters Degree student in Ecology at Colorado State University.
Tuesday, Aug. 23, 7:30 p.m., Extreme Ice
View a dramatic presentation on the dynamics of glacial ice and climate change. Presenter is James Balog, who is the founder of the Extreme Ice Survey.
