SEARCHLIGHT, Nev. - The National Park Service has suspended the search for a 25-year-old man who went missing this morning while swimming in Lake Mohave. He is now presumed drowned.
Park rangers and Nevada Department of Wildlife game wardens began their search of the area around noon and continued until 5 p.m. when the search was suspended.
The missing man is identified as Andre Battle of Henderson, Nev.
Battle and his group boated from Cottonwood Cove about 2.5 miles north to Arizona Bay on the Arizona side of Lake Mohave. A witness says that Battle was in the water for two to three minutes when he was heard saying he couldn't breathe. At around 11 a.m. the witness says she turned away for a moment and when she turned back Battle was gone. The water depth in the area ranges from 80 to 100 feet.
Battle wasn't wearing a life jacket.
Park rangers will continue to search for Battle's body over the next several days with once-a-day searches of the area.
Next of kin have been notified.
