Grand Canyon, Ariz. - The New Water Fire was fully contained today at 6:00 p.m. All resources with the exception of two engines have been released from the fire. A transfer of command from the type III organization back to the host units occurred at 6:00 p.m. today. The fire will remain in a monitor status until controlled and eventually is declared out.
The New Water Fire is located approximately six miles east of Meadview, Arizona and fifty miles north of Kingman, Arizona and originated on private land adjacent to the park.
The fire remains at 9,800 acres.
