Everything is open, crowds are sparse, and flowers are beginning to pop. Spring is a great time to explore the park on your own or join us for the following events:
Daily - Walks and Talks
Explore a lava tube or join us for a short presentation on the patio. Ranger guided walks into Indian Tunnel are offered daily at 1 p.m. and also at 10 a.m. on Saturdays. Meet at the Caves Area trailhead with sturdy shoes and a flashlight. In order to prevent the spread of White Nose Syndrome, do not bring anything that has been in other caves and remember to pick up a cave permit at the entrance station or visitor center. Rangers will also offer short presentations on the Visitor Center patio daily at 3:15 p.m. and also at 1:45 p.m. on Saturdays. Look for a detailed schedule of these and other events at:

May 5 & 6 - Craters of the Moon Educator's Workshop
This 2-day workshop will provide teachers with a variety of educational tools that can be used with students in the classroom to introduce natural history concepts and/or to prepare for a field trip to the park. College credit is available. Contact our Education Specialist at 208-527-1331. May 20- Eclipse Viewing: 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Our Astro-Ranger will have a solarscope set up in front of the visitor center for safe viewing of sunspots and this rare annular solar eclipse. Although Craters of the Moon does not lie within the direct path of the eclipse, visitors should be able to view a partial eclipse at our location with the best viewing occurring between 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. For more information about the annular eclipse please visit: https://www.nature.nps.gov/features/eclipse/index.cfm
