Native American Art Lecture and Exhibit Set for July 8

NEWBURY PARK, Calif. - The National Park Service will host an art lecture and exhibit at the Satwiwa Native American Culture Center on Sunday, July 8. Self-taught airbrush artist Steven Garcia, of Mescalero Yaqui and Tongva heritage, will discuss his influences and techniques during the morning presentation from 10:00 a.m. until noon. The exhibit opening will take place that afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

The artwork will remain on display through Sept. 22, 2012. All ages are welcome, and the program and parking are free.

Directions to Satwiwa Native American Indian Culture Center:

From the Ventura Freeway (101), exit at Wendy Drive and head south. Turn right on Lynn Road. Turn left on Via Goleta. Continue all the way to a parking lot where the road ends. Walk 0.3 miles to the Culture Center. For questions, please call (805) 370-2301.
