WHITE HALL, AL - The Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail invites you to a Ranger-led discussion on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 2:00 pm presented at the Lowndes Interpretive Center, 7002 U.S. Highway 80 West, White Hall AL, 36040. This dialog will surround the immediate impact of desegregation on the composition of affected schools to include the resistance of county administrators and the difficulties experienced by those attempting to integrate Hayneville High School as a result of the landmark Brown vs. Board of Education Supreme Court ruling.
Participants will explore the short and long term impact of this monumental decision on the student body and the mass migration of whites from the public school system and the proliferation in the number of private schools, not only in Lowndes County but throughout the state.
