Celebrate Jr. Ranger Day

CARLSBAD, New Mexico - Kids! Do you love to explore natural areas and learn about art, science, history and nature while helping to protect special places? Become part of a very special group that has been going strong since the 1930's - National Park Junior Rangers!

On Saturday, April 27, Carlsbad Caverns National Park will host its 7th Annual Junior Ranger Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All young visitors (ages 4-12) will have the opportunity to complete activities in a free Junior Ranger booklet and earn a special certificate and commemorative patch. In addition, rangers will lead free activities for kids all day long including workshops to create your own bat masks and finger puppets, plus lots of other surprises!

The park's famous caverns will also be open, so you and your family can enjoy exploring the Big Room. You can either walk down through the natural entrance or ride an elevator 750 feet down. The visitor center will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The last entry into the cave via the natural entrance is at 2 p.m. and last entry via the elevators is at 3:30 p.m.
