VALLEY FORGE, PA - Valley Forge National Historical Park will host a Trails Fair in celebration of the American Hiking Society's 21st annual National Trails Day®. The event will be held at the Betzwood Picnic Area from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. This annual event is a long-standing celebration of America's magnificent trail systems and its countless supporters and volunteers. National Trails Day is celebrated in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.This special day is an open invitation to all Americans to get outside and connect with local hiking clubs, community groups, and state and national parks.
Free programs at Valley Forge will include guided hikes focusing on nature and history. Environmental organizations as well as conservation, health, and trails groups will offer educational clinics and presentations at outdoor exhibits. There will also be a showcase of the latest in outdoor equipment and gear.
National Trails Day promotes the relationship between healthy parks and healthy people."This event is an excellent opportunity to explore park trails, get connected, give back through volunteerism, and reap the health benefits of all that trails offer," said Park Superintendent, Kate Hammond.
